Melting Metropolis hosts the Heat Humanities Hub network. Convened by Melting Metropolis’ Prof. Chris Pearson and Dr Kara Schlichting, alongside Dr Chris Courtney (Durham University) and Dr Rebecca Wright (Northumbria University), the Hub brings together a diverse, global group of interdisciplinary scholars working on heat, in the past and present. Together we explore how heat has been understood, embraced and feared, and how it is experienced – unevenly – by individuals, communities and societies across the globe.  

Hub members include historians, architects, geographers, sociologists and cultural studies scholars from Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe and North America. Through online workshops and other events, we aim to support research into humanities approaches to heat.
