Melting Metropolis is a research project with community and public engagement embedded from the outset. Given societal concerns about climate breakdown, we are committed to ensure that engagement sits at the heart of everything we do.

Through interrogating historical materials and working closely with communities, Melting Metropolis seeks to co-produce new ways of narrating, visualizing, and understanding the changing forms of urban life in an age of climate breakdown.

  • Community Engagement

Our Community Engagement seeks to nurture creative and conversational community movements that explore climate breakdown in community-led ways. Working across London, Paris and New York, the programme brings together academic research and lived experiences of heat and health to inspire grassroots designed initiatives that demand a better future.

  • Public Engagement

Our Public Engagement work draws on, & draws together, academic and community-based research into the lived experiences of heat in our cities. Creative, embodied public realm interventions provide opportunities for the wider public to connect, understand & empathise with the lived experiences of those most directly impacted by urban heat islands.
